Jamie Wheeler
President/Founder
I am Austen's mother. Although my daughter was diagnosed at age seven with high functioning autism, she has clearly been autistic since birth. Following high school, we quickly discovered the dearth of opportunities for adults with autism. I plan to use my "mom" skills as well as my decades-long experience as an English professor to help create a better life for our daughters and sons
Lisa Christian
VICE PRESIDENT
Hello, My name is Lisa Christian and I am the Vice President of Austen’s Autistic Adventures.
My son Justin joined AAA in August of 2017 and, without realizing it at the time, I did as well. We met Jamie and Austen and I knew right away they had something very important with this organization. Justin’s “missing piece” in the autism puzzle has always been socializing with his peers. This was an opportunity to do that and have some fun at the same time. Justin has made friends and looks forward to our Adventures.
I became involved as a volunteer and helped Jamie out as much as possible. I also made a lot of friends along the way, including other parents who face the day-to day challenges of ASD. This year, Jamie asked me to join this mission in a more formal capacity as Vice President and I accepted without hesitation. I am passionate about what AAA is doing and the future Jamie and I both see for the group and our “kids.”
Lisa and her husband Richard live in Rowlett, Tx. They are parents of four adult children, the youngest of which is Justin.
